A Girl’s Night Out!
Fox & Hounds
Thursday, March 22
Stay tuned for more details!
South Wisconsin District along with 21 other districts will be featured on the LWML.org Facebook page promoting two of our upcoming mission grants. All day long look for new Facebook posts to promote our two featured grants. The event is to bring awareness to mission grants in our district and hopefully bring donations to mites in support of our grants.
YOU can help by re-posting the posts from the LWML or the LWML-SWD Facebook pages on your own page or on your churches page. Let’s get the word out about these two wonderful grants.
and what we’re all about……
Our group has been around since the beginning of Divine Savior. We are a group that may vary in age but always enjoy great fellowship. It is a great place to develop new friendships and if you’re younger, then how about considering it a night out without the kids. We meet the first Tuesday of every month and begin with dessert. It is followed by a possible speaker, potluck, crafting for our Country Fair or even Bingo. We then have a short business meeting which includes an offering and a MITE collection. Divine Savior’s Women in Misson is also a supporter of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). Through our collection of “MITES” which vary from pennies to dollars, our money along with LWML groups from around the country support National projects. Even if you are not a member, you too can give your mites to support these worthy causes.
Besides our offerings, our group sponsors the Country Fair. Did you know that from the proceeds we have continued to support many charities, individuals and local groups in the area. Some of our money through the years has gone to support: Seminary Students that received a monthly monetary amount for the entire school year. We have also sponsored Missionaries from all over the world which also received monthly support for an entire year. Our group also gives assistance to many local area groups.
Over the years our Divine Savior quilting group has made and sent many quilts all over the world. The Rescue Mission, Place of Refuge, and the Orphan Grain Train have been a recipient of these beautiful quilts made by the talented sewing ladies of Divine Savior. We also collect Soup Labels, Box Tops, Devotional Books, Eyeglasses, Ink Cartridges, Aluminum Cans and Pop Tabs to either distribute or cash in to help those in need. Sometimes, we offer our support to our own church but the majority of our money supports those around us.
We are not many, but truly believe that we continue to do well with the little we have. So, would you please consider giving our group a try? We DO NOT take attendance. We DO NOT collect dues. We DO NOT meet during the summer months. However, we DO offer a fun time, laughs, good food, good friends and a feeling of contentment when you leave for home. You’ve heard the saying, “Make new friends but keep the old”, well, that’s what you’ll do by giving Divine Savior’s Women in Mission a try. Like little Mikey says: “Try it, you’ll like it.” Come join the fun!
Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) adopts and supports mission projects through prayers, cooperation and financial support.
The mission of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is to assist each woman of the Lutheran Church – Missouri synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.
In fervent gratitude for the Savior’s dying love and His blood-bought gift of redemption, we dedicate ourselves to Him with all that we are and have; and in obedience to His call for workers in the harvest fields, we pledge Him our willing service wherever and whenever He has need of us. We consecrate to our Savior our hands to work for Him, our feet to go on His errands, our voice to sing His praises, our lips to proclaim His redeeming love, our silver and our gold to extend His Kingdom, our will to do His will, and every power of our life to the great task of bringing the lost and the erring into eternal fellowship with Him. Amen.
